The Hoh Rain Forest is one of the best examples of temperate rainforest in the United States, which is why it is one of the most popular tourist destinations during the summer. While the trail is pretty easy, and the forest is lovely, expect a lot of crowds during peak times (this could increase wait times getting into the park up to 2 hours). But if you visit in the off-peak times, you get the added benefit of more rain keeping the mosses at their most beautiful. Fewer crowds also mean a higher chance of seeing wildlife – I once saw a herd of elk here in spring – that is not something you forget in a hurry.
